Couple face court for 'excessively' noisy sex

advertisement

Headline pretty much says it all.

They were measuring nearly 50 decibels in the apartment next door. Or the volume of a normal conversational voice from three feet away.

Common courtesy anyone?

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

This should be an easy to moderate seed (not expecting a huge number of comments anyways), but just in case...

Lets keep it at an adult level please.

I love this story.... this is a conviction that a guy could take to the grave with pride... the only thing better would be to be sentenced to stand with a sign at a thoroughfare, as judges sometimes do, with a sign... " Convicted Public Nusance - made spouse scream with passion during nightly conjugal relations... lol

I think it should be Public disturbance, considering that the noise disturbs their neighbors.

A 10-minute recording of their sex sessions was played out before a judge and two magistrates in the court, where the case continued on Tuesday.

Doesn't sound like they were too upset about the noise, if they were able to record 10 minutes of it.

The whole story is just ridiculous, and it sounds like a major waste of time for what could have been easily handled by going next door to have a polite conversation about turning down the volume.

Steve and Caroline Cartwright's "howling" lovemaking sounded "unnatural", "hysterical" and "like they are both in inconsiderable pain", Newcastle Crown Court heard.

I wonder what he could have done to make them both "howl" and get so "hysterical" that it would be considered "offensive" enough to be called to court.

From my reading it sounds like they were confronted about it before it went to court. Actually I found another story which indicates this was an appeal, that some information they left out was it would go on for hours and was not involuntary.

I wonder what he could have done...

It could be what she was doing. But it isn't a new thing, turns out it has been going on for awhile (2008). One story I found indicates it goes back to 2007.

So, yeah I go back to maybe there is a lack of common courtesy, or it seems like someone likes the attention.

A friend of mine had a girl that lived next door to him and would shriek half the night at all hours while having sex...and bang the headboard into their shared wall. He just started mimicking her sex noises whenever he would see her in the hall. She moved. lmao.

They had no choice but to hear it anyway, with or without the recorder. they were subjected to it constantly, so what's another 10 minutes with a recorder on?

How do you register 50 decibels having sex? I think either they had loud music playing or that girl has quite a set of lungs on her.

Actually 50 isn't that loud. Until you consider the entire series of events, the distance and the walls between the source and where the measurement occurred.

I found other stories about the couple that seem to imply they are trying to get the attention. (links are in 1.6)
