A Kalamazoo woman who founded a breast-feeding advocacy group last year is planning to hold a “nurse-in” later this month in front of the Van Buren County courthouse.
The event, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Nov. 28, is to protest the actions of a district judge in Paw Paw who reportedly called out a woman who was nursing her 5-month-old son in the gallery of his courtroom.
“We will be demonstrating and rallying in support of the mom and the right for women to nurse their baby anywhere, anytime,” said Mackenzie Hatfield-Johnson, who started No Injustice Against Nursing in Public (NINJA NIPs) last October.
